River of Doubt, Teddy Roosevelt's account of his expedition down an un-chartered river in the Amazon jungle, 1912. Enjoyable read, learning about the Amazon people, animals, bugs, and hardships they faced and took it all in stride, only because they were working with their 'cutting edge' of science, camping equipment and medicine.
Tried by War, story of Abe Lincoln's presidency......it's a miracle the Union won the war with the inept generals. Made me wonder what we'd be like today if the South had won, which almost happened! And, more men died in this war than WWI, WWII, Korean and Vietnam wars put together. Civil war stuff is interesting, this was good, but I'd read better.
